Mountain National Bank Supports Blount County Food Pantry

Mountain National Bank Supports Blount County Food Pantry

Mountain National Bank makes a $500.00 donation to the Blount County Food Pantry. "We at MNB are so grateful for the warm reception we have received in Maryville and we want to be involved in this community. When we were researching where to make our donation, our staff living in Maryville quickly suggested The Food Pantry," said MNB Blount County Regional President, Mike Zorio. "It is really admirable what all of the volunteers, led by Evelyn Watson, have been able to accomplish, and it speaks well of this county that they take care of their own."

$250,000 Donation Brings Needed Improvements to Burden Hill Check Presentation to City, Friday, July 10, 2009

(Sevierville, TN)—The City of Sevierville is received a $250,000 donation from Mountain National Bank for much-needed infrastructure improvements to a neighborhood that has struggled with substandard sewer systems for decades.

“This is one of those instances in which a casual conversation resulted in people taking action,” says Mountain National Bank President and CEO, Dwight Grizzell. “One of our employees came to us after learning of the living conditions on Burden Hill from a friend who works with city codes enforcement.”

For nearly 10 years, Sevierville’s Director of Codes Enforcement, Butch Stott, had been working to find money to bring water and sewer service to homes on Burden Hill. “Primarily, this area is made up of elderly and handicapped residents,” says Stott. “The state awarded a grant, but it was only enough to bring water lines into the community. Ultimately, I wanted to get the area approved for the state’s Home Program, but substandard sewer and field lines made that impossible.”

“This is an enormous gift to the city and the residents of Burden Hill,” says Sevierville Mayor Bryan Atchley. “This donation came at an opportune time and will save money on the front end. Construction crews were able to install the sewer lines while roads were already displaced for water lines. Once the paving it finished, the infrastructure will be set.”

Mountain National Bank will presented a check to the city of Sevierville at the worksite on Burden Hill on Friday, July 10th at 9 a.m. Construction crews have installed about 4200 ft. of sewer line and taps to approximately 35 homes on Burden Hill Road, which is located off of East Gate Road.

“Some of the homes will be able to hook on to the sewer right away,” says Stott. “In other cases, there may be instances in which we will be working to rebuild substandard homes with grant monies from the state. Either way, this is a quantum leap for this community thanks to the gift from Mountain National.”

Established in 1998, Mountain National Bank is locally owned and operated with headquarters in Sevierville, Tennessee. A member of the FDIC, Mountain National offers personal and business banking services at 12 locations in Sevier and Blount counties.
